Investigation 1
2June 2008
Investigators: Tracey, Gerda, Andre’ & Mitch

Orange Grove

The first investigation Spitsa had ever done was conducted in a residential home in Orange Grove in the heart of Johannesburg's northern suburbs on the 17th May 2008. The home belongs to a gentleman living in the premises for the last 52 years. He recently lost his wife of 49 years to a long illness and ever since claims that her spirit continued to stay in the house.

Although there was no reporting of objects moving around or any other scary paranormal activity, the homeowner was convinced of a strange presence in the home.

The whole Spitsa team arrived that evening with all their equipment ready to find this alleged presence. The team was armed with digital cameras, recording devices, EMF detectors and other equipment. Around half way through this investigation, something unexplained happened to some equipment being used during the investigation. Tracey had reported a sudden drastic drop in temperature and whilst Andre’ was manning the digital temperature meter, he reported that the temperature had suddenly “dropped” by 10 degrees C.

With that, Mitch was holding a hand held compass and at the same time noticed that the compass had jammed. All this happened at the same time that Tracey had reported a drop in temperature. The investigation continued to around 01h30 the next morning, and whilst going through the material the next day, only orbs were found.

Our conclusion:

Whilst a digital thermometer is generally considered to be a reliable piece of equipment, it remained totally unexplained to the team why this instrument and the compass failed at that very moment Tracey reported a sudden temperature drop. The team concluded that there was no paranormal activity in this home and is definitely not haunted.
